As a makeup artist in the Austin area, I have enjoyed a variety of creative opportunities. Eight years ago, I got my start as an intern on a film project assisting hair, makeup, and special effects makeup. From there I would continue working on two additional films, learning the fast paced world of hair and makeup in the film industry.
Makeup is a medium that allows me to express myself and channel the creative vision of others. It is this personal expression and opportunity for collaboration that makes me love what I do.
I quickly dove into the wedding industry and for the past 2 years I've serviced over 90 weddings in the Austin area and surrounding Hill Country. I love this industry and being a part of such a significant occasion in so many people's lives, is icing on the cake.
Makeup has intrigued Kelsey from a young age of fifteen years old. She obsessed over shows such as Americas Next Top Model and began learning more about makeup. She experimented with beauty, special effects and editorial makeup and began thinking of herself as a makeup artist, even without having any professional experience behind her.
Her passions only grew and friends and family started to recognize her as a makeup artist.
Kelsey is a graduate of Cosmix School of Makeup Artistry, where she studied under some of the most talented makeup artists in the business. Kelsey successfully passed and received a diploma in Production Makeup Artistry.
After completeing the Production Program, she then went back to Cosmix to study creature design, where she learned how to make masks and prosthetic appliances, as well as learning how to paint and apply them.
Kelsey worked in South Florida for three more years building her portfolio and freelancing. She has recently moved to Austin, Texas where she is currently networking and building her business.
Kelsey is trained in clean beauty, glamour, bridal, airbrushing, body art, light hair styling, runway, period makeups, TV/ film, and special effects makeups.
She really loves working on photoshoot sets and seeing everyone come together as a team to produce beautiful works of art.
Between making someone feel beautiful and special, or making someone look gross and creepy, she loves the two worlds of beauty and special effects makeup and how vastly different they are. When it comes down to it, what she loves most is taking a blank canvas, that is a face or body, and creating art.
